Welcome Nice to meet you!  This is just my simple blog about being a wedding photographer in San Luis Obispo and Paso Robles, the people I meet, and the photographs I take...plus some stories to help you glue them all together.  Please feel free to leave a comment...I love hearing from everyone.  As my fortune cookie said "Great people will come into your life" so I take that to mean you all, too!

"You just won't meet two nicer people." "They were meant for each other." I heard (and overheard) these phrases yesterday and it was absolutely fitting. People were smiling just simply looking at Anitra and Tony yesterday. They didn't even have to be doing anything special...just simply being their sweet selves. The day wasn't just complete sappy-eee-ness though...I got my fair share of laughter in, too. Special thanks go to Bridesmaid Beth for providing me several memories (one having to do with a marking pen) that I'll still laugh about for the next month. The wedding was at The Inn at Morro Bay on their back deck overlooking the water. I started the day with Anitra and Tony's rings, what a treat! Check out how freaking cool Tony's ring is...he's got all sorts of scroll engraving on it.

Anitra's dad catches a little break and takes in the day before getting dressed up. We were running a little late getting ready, and Anitra's dad came by to do a time check. We were a room full of half-dressed women so he was stuck on the outside pointing to his watch...LOL And, the next photo is absolutely one of my favorite ceremony pics of all time. I just LOVE it! And, if you were ever wondering just how wonderful of parents Anitra and Tony are...check out their ADORABLE (move over Suri Cruise) daughter Cyra. She had me wrapped around her finger. For the first time I've ever seen, the bride's Grandma caught the bouquet! And, this was no easy catch. It was a competitive field, she worked for that catch.

So, today I headed out to Anitra and Tony's wedding rehearsal at the Inn at Morro Bay. Just wanted to share a couple shots that I liked in particular. One...check out Anitra's grandma peeping in from the sides. I love how she was just trying to be discreet. All off-to-the-side and such. And, pretty much the same set-up, but I love seeing the set-up without all the guests sometimes. It reminds me of how much people prepare for the day. After all, how often do you really pay attention to how fast you walk? Pretty much only on a wedding day when you're asked to walk up an aisle.

Welcome to the fun zone! When you finish watching this one, you'll want a taco & beer with your friends. You'll remember times when you laughed until you cried. You'll call old friends and reminiscence the time you stripped down and went running down the street yelling "We're streaking! Come on everyone! We're streaking!" (that's an Old School reference, just in case you don't have that movie memorized like we do). You'll give your favorite family members a call to tell them you love them...and plan a visit to see them. Because, really, a wedding is about fun and family and friends.

Wiping the tears away now (thanks to the emotional connection of music and pictures) to bring you Megan and Keith's slideshow. I had about 120 images that made my quick first cut for the slideshow. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a longer version of this particular song from Megan and Keith's first dance...so it had to be whittled down to just 66 choice selections. So difficult to choose....hope you enjoy!

Megan:

Katie,

We can't thank you enough for all you did for us. You not only took amazing photos but were a wonderful addition to our wedding festivities - my mom wants you to join the family!! These pictures turned out absolutely amazing (and I can't believe you got them up so quickly - talk about instant gratification!!). I don't think you missed a single beautiful moment.

Beyond words. I know as I sit down to type this that I'll stumble to say all the things that I want to about Megan, Keith, and their families and friends. So, thank goodness I have some photos to illustrate how good of a time we all had yesterday! Megan and Keith were a super fun engagement session and so I was really looking forward to seeing this wedding. Megan and Keith did NOT disappoint. I think several of the people there must have thought I was related to them, based on how many times I cried with happiness and anticipation. I cried when Megan put her dress on, when Keith and his best man had a "moment" before the ceremony, when the vows were repeated, when the toasts were said, and more. It was just one of those weddings were the emotions were raw and awesome. And, could the grapevines be any more sweet at this time of year?! We were at the fantastic Zenaida Cellars for a perfectly Central Coast kind of wedding! I have barely stumbled out of bed now, so I still haven't even seen all the photos from the night yet. I wanted to get a little sneak up for them, and these first few pictures just took my breath away. Megan had an amazing giggle grin on her face during the ceremony...check it out and they had the cutest flower girls around, Keith's nieces. Inside the amazing barrel room, each table had the word "love" in all different languages

Megan's grandfather gave a great toast, with a punch line that had us all in stitches! One of the "oh, wow" moments of the day was this really sweet use of their engagement photos. They put a couple of the photos on custom-made Jones soda bottles for all the guests to enjoy. I *heart* seeing my pictures put to awesome use!!! and I got to see a few new "traditions" that were fun. Megan has some relatives from Denmark (the happiest country on Earth according to a recent study) and they told me that there are lots of traditions in Denmarkian (ok, Danish) weddings. Including making the bride and groom stand up on chairs for their kissing. We tried it too... there was a first dance, lovely and then there was a "fertility dance" for Megan and Keith...they were the meat in a HUGE friendship dancing sandwich
