Welcome Nice to meet you!  This is just my simple blog about being a wedding photographer in San Luis Obispo and Paso Robles, the people I meet, and the photographs I take...plus some stories to help you glue them all together.  Please feel free to leave a comment...I love hearing from everyone.  As my fortune cookie said "Great people will come into your life" so I take that to mean you all, too!

All the streets in my neighborhood are named after girls...so it seems appropriate that the neighborhood is dominated by adorable little girls. There's my two girls, plus about 7 other girls under 6 years old. I believe you can see the pink aura of our neighborhood from space. Which brings us to the fantastic Sophia, my girls' playmate, and her parents Joy and Jesse. Sophia is the most well-annunciated kid you'll ever meet, with a quick wit and insight. And, she also was sporting some of the best tights I'd seen in a long time (so I had to copy it for my kids...thanks Joy!). Thanks again for hanging out with me on this cold winter morning! =)

The tights! I gotta have the tights. Times two, of course, or it will be war.

The first thing I saw was the AWESOME red hair. It took a little bit longer, but then there was a fantastic smile to match! Dig this little girl and her family. Believe it or not...Gina, Richard and Madison were the ONLY rain-out of the season so far (knock on wood). Literally, it was only raining once this whole winter on a Saturday at 3:30...and it was on their session date. So, when rain was predicted again on our reshoot...I was just praying that it wouldn't really materialize! Luckily, the weather held for a great time in one of my favorite locations. Gina shared a funny story about Madison's red hair. Apparently, Gina's got some Irish on her family side...but it's masked by the dominant Italian genes. So, when Madison was born with this awesome red hair, the nurses were double and triple checking her wristband IDs over and over before she left to make sure it *really* was her baby! Thanks again for hanging out with me! Madison, I hope Santa is extra nice and gets you that "pink mixer" that you want, because you deserve it after being so incredible today. =)

Gina and Richard:

Katie,
Thank you so much for calling to reschedule...it meant so much to us! I loved the hike...even in my heals you told me not to wear. Thanks for getting muddy for Madison.

Not fair. Not fair. With three kids, you shouldn't look this good or be this cool. Tina and Jeff have it goin' on, they look fantastic. I'm still downloading photos from my camera from this session, but just had to give a quick sneak peek at some of the first ones I've looked at. They are so sweet! LOVE the natural feel of the family group and their warmth with each other. When I told them to all sit together, this is how they just naturally fell into each other. How cool is that?! And, check out the peeps on little Sophia. Honestly, is blue like this legal?

Ever feel like you meet someone and just click? That's me and Nicole (aka Ava and Chase's mom). We are both moms of kids who are 2 years apart. It's a special club. We don't advertise the membership. The rewards are a mixed bag...some days hard and some days incredible! Sweet lucky me...I got a GREAT afternoon with them. Ava's got this special spunky spirit, even when she tried not to smile...the smiles just spilled out of her. And Chase was an explorer and adventurer...he checked out every nook and cranny around the place. I should use him as my location scout when he gets older! Seriously awesome kids!

How is it that all of your family portraits look like paid models!? Your shots are inspirational and really capture the spirit of the families. Beautiful work. I could drown in Chase's eyes - they are so chocolatey!

I started my weekend early! The weather was so perfect tonight that it would have been an absolute waste to not be shooting. Luckily Dylan and her parents showed up to take advantage of that wonderful time before sunset. I had a blast...and I'm gonna give props to Dylan for being my great photo assistant. We had so much fun "working" together that I even overheard her tell her mom afterwards "Mom, I like Katie." WOWl!! That's a sincere compliment from a 4-year-old and I did it without using candy or a trip to Disneyland!!! I'm touched!
