Welcome to my little blog. I am Katie. Nice to meet you! I live in San Luis Obispo and happen to have one of the world's best jobs. I photograph weddings, families, and kids. Many of you are finding this blog because you are planning a wedding...and to you a special welcome. Good luck! Wedding planning is a long process, and I value the time you've taken to find my site!

And a "thank you" to my current and past clients for letting me into their special connections, sharing their families. I am blessed to continue personal friendships with many clients well past their weddings.

What inspires me about weddings? Love, connections, happiness, laughter, hugs, warmth, tears, appreciation, gratitude, praise...and that's what gives me goosebumps at weddings. The decorations get packed away (although pintrest helps us remember every detail you might have considered, lol!), but the love remains as the foundation. I want your photos to reflect more than just the decorations of your life, it should reflect the love and laughter that provides the foundation for everything to come.

Annie and Mike got married awhile back and I had a grand time with them. Today I was treated to a visit with their newborn son Joey. If you know me then you know that I think there is no better smell in the world than the top of a little newborn’s head. It is so amazingly innocent and I jump at the chance to experience it whenever possible. Joey was born on March 29th weighing in at 7 lbs 5 oz. He’s perfectly beautiful and healthy, too. (And yes, people…I do believe there are sometimes ugly babies. I had one. Holly was not cute until she was 3 months old. I’m not being a mean mom, just honest.) I am proud of myself that I didn’t cry in their hospital room…I kept it together while getting to hold his tiny little body. I cried after I left the room. Annie and Mike will be on their way home soon, and I hope to have this blog post up and waiting for them.
Mike told me that Joey had a little habit of “fake” sleeping. He’d look like he was asleep, but then slowly open one eye seemingly to check and see if you were still there. Sure enough, Joey did it a lot.

Joey had good working knowledge of what a pacifier is used for. He was quite happy with it.

  • Wow Katie, I really, really love these!! You captured the newness of that sweet little boy perfectly!

  • Connie says:

The photo of Mike with his precious baby boy embodies his gentle spirit and love of father and son the same way Annie’s labor demonstrated her “mother love”. Just beautiful. Thank you for sharing.

  • Annie says:

Thank you, thank you, thank you a thousand times over, Katie! We are so happy you were able to come meet Joey, and so grateful you brought your camera with you. We will treasure these pictures forever!

  • So sweet baby. Loved the little one.
